Privacy

readpraysing is a free app for family worship at home. This page says what it keeps about your family, why, and who else is involved.

Last updated October 10, 2026

What the app keeps

  • Your account. Your name, email address and profile photo from Google when you sign in with Google, or only your email address when you sign in with a code sent by email.
  • What your family adds. Your family name and crest, your evenings (readings, prayers, hymns and notes), the people and things you pray for and the prayers you mark answered, plans you write, your worship nights, and your settings, such as the Bible translation, the order of the evening, your time zone and which alerts you want.
  • Groups. If you join a group, the other families in it see what you share there: your family name and the parts of your evenings you choose to share.
  • Google Calendar, if you connect it. A token that lets the app add and update your evenings in one calendar it makes for you. It can’t see your other calendars. The token is stored encrypted, and you can disconnect at any time in Account.
  • Notes you send us. What you write in Account → Send us a note, with your family name (or your own name, if you haven’t set one) and email address so we can reply, kept until you delete your account. Only the people who run readpraysing read them.
  • Sign-in safety. To stop anyone guessing sign-in codes, the app briefly counts attempts against a scrambled form of the email address and the network address they came from. These counts expire on their own.

What the app doesn’t do

  • No ads, and your information is never sold or rented.
  • No tracking across other websites and no analytics services.
  • Your family’s prayers and evening notes stay with your family unless you share them to a group. (A note you send us from Account is the one thing that comes to us.)

Cookies and storage

The app sets a cookie to keep you signed in and a few small ones for settings, such as which view to show. Your light or dark choice is kept in your browser. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

Services the app relies on

  • Netlify hosts the app and its database.
  • Google, for Sign in with Google and, if you connect it, Google Calendar.
  • Resend sends the email with your sign-in code.
  • Crossway’s ESV API supplies ESV Bible text. Only the passage asked for is sent, nothing about you.
  • Unsplash photos appear on plans, and Sing Your Part can supply your church’s hymnal. Only the photo or hymn is fetched; nothing about you is sent.

Each of these looks after data under its own privacy policy.

Children

Accounts are for parents and other adults who lead family worship. The app doesn’t ask for children’s names or details.

Keeping or deleting your information

Your information stays while you have an account. To delete your account and everything in it, open Account in the app, then Send us a note, and choose Delete account: it happens straight away, and the calendar the app made in your Google Calendar goes too. If you can’t sign in, email jordanddeluco@gmail.com from the address you used and it will be done for you. Disconnecting Google Calendar in Account removes the app’s access to it straight away.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
